What Do You Think About This?

11 Oct

The following was sent to me in an email, so please keep in mind that this is NOT something I wrote but something that was sent to me.

“Subject: Obituary printed in the London Times…..absolutely BRILLIANT!

Today we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend,Common Sense, who has been with us for many years.
No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:

- Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
- Why the early bird gets the worm;
- Life isn’t always fair;
- and maybe it was my fault.

Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies (don’t spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).

His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place.
Reports of a 6-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition.

Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.

It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion.

Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims.

Common Sense took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.

Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement.

Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.

He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
I Know My Rights, I Want It Now, Someone Else Is To Blame, I’m A Victim

Not many attended his funeral because so few realized he was gone.”

So what do you think about this? Don’t be afraid to be honest, and don’t worry…I’ll offer my opinion along the way also.

      Lol, Berry!!!!

      What I will say regarding this subject is that society seems to overthink every aspect of life now. When you over-think any situation, you will begin to lose the common sense of the matter. I also see a lot of battles taking place over power, and that can absolutely kill common sense. There is also a lot of “people pleasing” going on. Now, I am a person that loves to see people happy, but that’s not reality. We can’t have our way every single time, and we won’t be able to please everyone. That’s just how it is, and when you try to please everyone…I believe that is something that complicates everything. Common sense does not have the ability to survive when it is being ignored in complicated matters. Every complicated matter has its simplicity whether it is easy to recognize or not. It has its common sense, but society now is trapped in a mental prison of selfishness…and it seems that common sense is no longer welcomed.

    You are so right about trying to please everybody and that just don’t work because it is impossible to please everybody. And then a lot of times people just want the situation to be confused, so people go to thinking right is wrong and wrong is right. But we never lose our common sense because then we would really be in trouble, I’m going to hold on to mine.

      Joyce,

      LOL, I’m with you! I’m going to try my very best to hold on to my common sense. It seems as though the world is always trying to snatch it away with nonsense. We’ve got to try harder to think in a more intelligent manner. You are very right, people really do want the situation to be confused sometimes. Isn’t that strange? Some people thrive off of confusion and conflict. Lord help us.
